This cassowary portrait has it all for me — a subject with texture, showy colour, captivating (if slightly grotesque) appearance with a powerful presence. I was lucky to see a couple of these strange dinosaur-looking birds fossicking in the rainforest on the side of the highway on a road trip to Cape York Peninsula. (Unframed)
