Although the original painting is less than half the size of Australian painter Tom Roberts' major work, "The Big Picture", I was reminded while working on this about the challenges he faced while completing his epic piece and how it completely exhausted him. "The Long Paddock "portrays stockmen on horseback and bike driving their hungry cattle from a dry valley to higher, greener pastures on the top of the Great Dividing Range, during the drought in 2012.

I sat in the back of a dusty ute taking hundreds of photos trying to capture the enormity of the scene of my friends moving over 600 hungry, noisy head of cattle. A brilliant experience. (Unframed)
